Activity or Assignment with Text/Links Discuss what students learned yesterday about Maynard Jackson. Students will use the slide presentation information to answer the Andrew Young comprehension questions on their worksheets. Andrew Young: Influences & Contributions - Students will get on the computer and use three links to complete a graphic organizer about Andrew Young. Students will need to identify four influences and four contributions in Andrew Young’s life. Quiz Wednesday! What are politicians? What are some public offices that citizens can run for? What does the president of the United States do? The teacher will use a slide presentation to teach about Jimmy Carter. Along the way we will discuss the material as it is being presented. Students will use textbook (pp. 477, 478, 489) “History Makers, Jimmy Carter, and Jimmy Carter is Elected” and textbook (pp. 490-493) “An Honest Politician, Carter and Domestic Issues, and Carter’s Foreign Policy” to answer the comprehension questions on their worksheets. Discuss what students have learned about Maynard Jackson, Andrew Young, and Jimmy Carter. It is time for students to show what they know. Students will also review for their quiz tomorrow by completing the Jimmy Carter: Accomplishments and Failures” assignment. They will take the Maynard Jackson, Andrew Young, and Jimmy Carter Quiz! Students will then use any additional time to complete their Maynard Jackson, Andrew Young, and Jimmy Carter assignments that they were given at the beginning of the week. It is time for students to show what they know. Students will take the Maynard Jackson, Andrew Young, and Jimmy Carter Quiz. TeenBiz article: The Hammer. Discuss the before reading poll.
