NMS Daily Lesson Plan for Instruction (Health -- Hood) Teacher: Coach Hood Unit/Session: Week 1 Health Date of Instruction: March 10-March 14 Standard/s: HE6.1/7.1/8.1 Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health. HE6.2/7.2/8.2 Students will analyze the influence of family and peers, culture, media, technology, and other factors on health behaviors. HE6.3/7.3/8.3 Students will demonstrate the ability to access valid information and products and services to enhance health. HE6.5/7.5/8.5 Students will demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance health. HE 6.6/7.6/8.6 Students will demonstrate the ability to use goal-setting skills to enhance health. HE6.7/7.7/8.7 Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks. HE6.8/7.8/8.8 Students will demonstrate the ability to advocate for personal, family, and community health. Learning Target/ Teaching Point: I can describe the topics that will be learned this nine weeks and understand the routines and expectations of this class. Opening (I Do) An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. TKES 1, 2, 3,4,5, 8,10 INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION: Google slide expectations/procedures assignments/grading notebooks Teen Wellness Assessment Health Pre-Test Health Week 1 Crossword/Word Search Health Standards Assignment DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Class discussion about the personal inventory worksheet. Review Health Pre-Test Review vocabulary from week 1 crossword Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10 GUIDED PRACTICE: Review Health pre-test questions. Review Teen Wellness Assignment Review Health Standards Assignment. INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: Class will complete a Health pre-test on their own, skipping over questions that they can find/don’t know as we will review the pre-test together at the end of class with a powerpoint. Class will complete the Teen Wellness Assignment (partially done on their own/partially done as whole group. Class will complete the Health Standards assignment with a partner. Closing (We Check) Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding . TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8 SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING: Formative Assessment : Ticket out the door: What are three things from the Teen Wellness assignment that you need to work on in order to improve your overall wellness? Homework Class will walk the bus loop for the last 20 minutes of each class, 3-4 laps
