Activity or Assignment with Text/Links



We will start class off with an introduction/review of classroom directions, expectations, and rules.


Using a brief powerpoint, and in collaboration with classroom discussion, students will quickly be able to recall the interesting facts we have learned about Georgia during the 1st semester of the school year. 


Students will use the Index in their textbook and other selected passages to read about people and events of the New South Era. They will answer comprehension questions.


We will continue learning about the people, groups, and events that shaped the New South. 


Students will use their textbooks to read specific pages to find information. They will answer comprehension questions.


The teacher will lead a presentation to teach the material. The students will summarize each section by documenting their own notes/thoughts. 



We will complete a culminating activity about the people, groups, and events that shaped the New South. 


Students will use the information gained (SS8H7a) to create a Henry Grady bumper sticker and a New South Era acrostic poem
