Learning Target

I will use a variety of strategies (context clues, Greek/Latin roots, dictionary)to determine the meaning of unknown words. 



I will write a complete RACECES paragraph in five minutes or less.

I will present the main points of my paragraph to the class in one minute or less.

Success Criteria

I will be successful when I can categorize the words and use them correctly in conversation and in writing.



I will be successful when my paragraph contains all of the parts.

I will be successful when my speech is concise, presented clearly, and uses academic language.

Review vocabulary - “Brain-Based Learning”

Silent Reading - “Richard Norris Williams”


Use three vocabulary words in questions and answers.  Write the questions and talk with a partner.

Paragraph Revision

Review the corrections on your paper copy.  Type your improved version. 

Paragraph Final  - 

Get peer feedback on your paragraph.  


Write your final copy and turn in.

Topic of your choice - 5-minute paragraph
