Analyze the role of Georgia in the American Revolution.

Analyze the role of Georgia in the American Revolution.


Explain the reasons for the establishment of the University of Georgia, as well as the reasons for the westward movement of Georgia’s capitals.


Success Criteria



I can explain the causes of the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, the roles of loyalists and patriots in the Siege of Savannah and Battle of Kettle Creek, and I can explain how the weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation led to the Constitution of the USA.

I can explain who created the University of Georgia and why it was created, and I can name Georgia’s capitals, as well as explain why they moved west.


Activity or Assignment with Text/Links



Today will be a review day for students to get their minds right for the Georgia and the American Revolution Test.


Students should use this time to do the following:


  1. Loyalist, Patriots, Articles of Confederation, and Constitution Quiz


  1. Unit #3 Quiz Analysis


  1. Three Worksheets


  1. American Revolution Study Guide


The students will take a test over the American Revolution!

Explain to students that we are beginning a new unit today about westward expansion. We will be preparing for a project that we will complete at the end of the unit. 


The teacher will use a slide presentation to teach the material. The students will complete a notes activity throughout the lesson.
