Activity or Assignment with Text/Links

Explain that we will begin a unit on the economy of Georgia. Show the clip from the movie cars that demonstrates the way transportation systems impact an economy.

The teacher will guide students through a slide presentation. The students will complete a map of Georgia showing the interstates, ports, and the airport with two facts for each area. They will also complete pages 193-196 in the workbook.

Explain which transportation method is most important to Georgia’s economy.

Students will start off by completing an activity about entrepreneurship and the associated risks of starting a business. The teacher will then guide students through a slide presentation that goes more into depth about entrepreneurship, profit, as well as the risks of starting a business.

Next, the notes activity moves on to Georgia’s Agricultural, Entertainment, Manufacturing, Service, and technological industries. This will be followed once again by a more in depth discussion about each industry during the slide presentation.

If there is time at the end, students will be encouraged to think about the learning extension section in their guided notes.

The students will begin by completing a “Budget Basics” activity. The teacher will then use a slide presentation to teach the material.

The students will then develop their own budget.

Students will begin class with an open notes quiz over Georgia’s economy!

Students will open their textbook to “The State Constitution / Comparing Constitutions” on textbook page #499. We will read over this information and answer questions (1-5) together on their worksheet.

I will then give them a brief slide presentation about the similarities and differences of the Georgia and United States constitutions. They will use this presentation and the teacher notes to answer question (6) on their own. We will discuss their answers in class!

Students will then open up their workbooks to (pp. 164, 165). They will use the multiple-choice options for questions (7-11) to complete the sentences on their worksheet.

Students will open their textbook to “The Branches of Government / The Legislative Branch” on textbook page #500. We will read over this information and answer questions (1-3) together on their worksheet.
