BOE, the 1956 flag, and the Sibley Commission, describe the role of Martin Luther King, Jr. and John Lewis in the Civil Rights Movement, describe the role of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in the Civil Rights Movement, describe the role of the Albany Movement and the March on Washington in the Civil Rights Movement, describe the ways that Georgia resisted the Civil Rights Act, emphasizing the role of Lester Maddox.

Activity or Assignment with Text/Links

Students will complete a review activity in preparation for today’s quiz.


Students will take the quiz.


After the quiz, the students will continue the review activity, which will help them prepare for Wednesday’s test.

The students will prepare for tomorrow’s test. First, they will complete a quiz analysis. After that, they will play Gimkit and/or other review games.

The students will take a test over the Modern Civil Rights Movement.


What are politicians? What are some public offices that citizens can run for?  What does the mayor of a city do?


Students will use the slide presentation information to answer the Maynard Jackson comprehension questions on their worksheets.


Maynard Jackson Annotated Illustration - Students will have to draw a picture of Maynard Jackson based on the image they got of Maynard Jackson from answering the comprehension questions. They will then annotate their picture with text labels and descriptions of the key points in their picture.
