6th - “Why my Family Came to America” - Writing clear sentences; story elements, writing using correct conventions, speaking with fluency

Content and Language Standards: 

ELAGSE6L6: Acquire and accurately use grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression.

ELAGSE6L2: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing. a. Use punctuation (commas, parentheses, dashes) to set off nonrestrictive/parenthetical elements.* b. Spell correctly.

Learning Target: 

 

I will learn English pronunciation rules so that I can learn new words.

I will learn the conventions of standard English.

Success Criteria: 

I will be successful when I can spell CVC words correctly and use correct capitalization and punctuation in my writing.
