Learning Target/ Teaching Point: Students will learn a popular hispanic children’s song and third person plural. |
Success Criteria: Students will sing the song and then transfer this to talking about more than one person.

Opening (I Do) An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson. TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 | INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION: Do you remember singing famous songs & nursery rhymes when you were younger? Little Mermaid, Lion King, Eensy Spiker. All cultures have special songs. We will sing one from Mexico.

DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Show students song and go over lyrics line by line, pronouncing words clearly and go over meanings. VIDEO: Los pollitos dicen

Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 | GUIDED PRACTICE: Once I have gone over song and explained the meaning of the words, students will join in singing and translating. They will practice. |
INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: Students will sing song on own and complete a cloze activity on the meaning of the verbs that will be used over and over during the quarter. |

Formative Assessment : Ask students to translate certain words from Spanish to English (easier) and then from English to Spanish (harder) |
Homework | Google other famous children’s songs from hispanic countries and bring one you’d like to learn. |
