Standard/s:  S7L4. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to examine the interdependence of organisms with one another and their environments. a. Construct an explanation for the patterns of interactions observed in different ecosystems in terms of the relationships among and between organisms and abiotic components of the ecosystem. (Clarification statement: The interactions include, but are not limited to, predator-prey relationships, competition, mutualism, parasitism, and commensalism.)

Learning Target/ Teaching Point:

I can identify and explain the different ways that organisms interact with one another.

Success Criteria:

  • explain and give an example of mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism

  • create a wanted ad from the point of view of an organism that benefits from a symbiotic relationship

Introduction of Wanted Ad Project - Students work to create a classified advertisement/want ad for a job opening in which an organism in a symbiotic relationship is looking for the other organism.

GUIDED PRACTICE:  

Students draw to pick the relationship that they will be researching and creating the ad for.
