NMS Daily Lesson Plan for Instruction (Spanish) Teacher: Dr. Stephanie L. Perry, Introduction to Spanish Unit/Session: All About Me Alphabet Project Date of Instruction: 1/26 - Due February 14th Presentations 2/28-3/11 Standard/s: MLI.IP1A Meet and Greet, Rules and Procedures, Syllabus, and if time - Use basic greetings, farewells, and expressions of courtesy Learning Target/ Teaching Point: Students will be able to understand basic conversations about themselves and other, be able to read about others, and respond appropriately. Success Criteria: I know I have it when I can say understand what is being said about myself and others, and when I can understand what I read about others, and when I can respond appropriately to basic conversations. Opening (I Do) An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson. TKES 1,2,3,4 ,5,8,10 INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION: Remember when you were in elementary school and the teacher had a “Spotlight Student?” We are going to work toward an “All About Me” project where we can tell about ourselves - who we are, what we like, and what we do daily - staying in target language for 90% of time. DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Always use gestures, pictures, or translations to go with words. We focus on the “Super Seven” words (when you know these words in any language you can communicate effectively). Super 7 - soy una maestra/I am a teacher, estoy en la escuela/I am at school, hay un chico/there is a boy, me gusta chocolate/I like chocolate, me encanta queso/I love cheese, tengo cincuenta y cinco años/I am (I have) 55 years old, Voy a mi casa/I go to my house, quiero un perro/I want a dog Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. TKES 1,2,3,4 ,5,7,8,10 GUIDED PRACTICE: soy un estudiante/I am a student estoy en la escuela/I am at school hay un chico/there is a boy me gusta chocolate/I like chocolate me encanta helado/I love icecream tengo once años/I am (I have) 11 years old voy a mi casa/I go to my house quiero un perro/I want a dog Ongoing/Review: Greetings/Saludos - Hola, Buenos días, Que tál (wave) Adios, Chau, Hasta luego, Hasta mañana, Nos vemos INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: Make an alphabet poster or Google Slides of the 29 Spanish letters. On each square of your poster (fold a piece of paper 4 or 5 times, which will give you 16 squares front and back - or 32 squares) or slide, write a Spanish word that represents you and what you like. Lastly, draw a picture of the word/thing/activity, or use clipart on slides, that you like. It is due on October 29th. Closing (We Check) Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding . TKES : 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING: Have students put thumbs up for “Si” and thumbs down for “No” so I can check to see who comprehends. Formative Assessment: Go around room and ask everyone to quickly tell me their name and something they like Homework Make index cards with the Super 7 words!
