| INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION: Science Starter. |
DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Instruction Video Go over today’s assignment called “Jelly Belly Lab”. Distribute jelly beans to tables and explain to students they will be classifying these jelly beans based on their characteristics using a dichotomous key. |
Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10
| GUIDED PRACTICE: Practice by completing one on the board and showing students how to correctly follow the dichotomous key. Using the worksheet provided, students will complete the first jelly bean. |
INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: Students will work with their partner using the jelly beans provided to classify 10 total jelly beans. Students will eat the jelly bean to see if they were correct after classifying. |
Closing (We Check) Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding . TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8
