Unit/Session: Welcome Back! Rules and Procedures

Date of Instruction:  January 5, 2022

Standard/s: S7L2

Learning Target/ Teaching Point: I can recall rules and expectations for my science class.


Success Criteria:

  • practice rules and procedures used in science 

  • understand what is expected from my teacher 

  • have an organized science notebook

Opening (I Do)

An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION:

Teacher and student introduction

The teacher teaches/reminds students of the expectations during the science starter portion of the class. 

DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Video

Rules, procedures and expectations: The teacher presents a presentation covering the rules and expectations of class. 


Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE:  

Science Notebook: Students will follow along with the teacher to set up their science notebook. Contents include: course guide, unit learning targets and success criteria, and unit notes. 



INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will complete a 2022 goals chart. On a sticky note, students will write at least 3 goals they want to accomplish. 1 personal, 1 academic/athletic, and 1 family goal. Next, they take these goals and write an essay on them in paragraph form. 

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .
