INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION:

Science Starter review question  

DIRECT INSTRUCTION: 

Review the teenbiz article about identifying different species of plants using a new cell phone app. Go over the main idea and vocabulary for the assignment. 

Next, introduce the project students will work together to complete on different invertebrate phylums.

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE:  

Students will choose a phylum of invertebrates to research. Following the rubric, they will research key characteristics about that phylum and will document their research via google slides. 

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will complete the teenbiz article first, and will then work together on their group project.
