NMS Daily Lesson Plan for Instruction
(Connections, Science, Social Studies, Math)
Teacher: Gainous |
Unit/Session: Cell Organelles |
Date of Instruction: August 26, 2021 |
Standard/s: S7L2. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to describe how cell structures, cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems interact to maintain the basic needs of organisms. a. Develop a model and construct an explanation of how cell structures (specifically the nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, lysosome, and mitochondria) contribute to the function of the cell as a system in obtaining nutrients in order to grow, reproduce, make needed materials, and process waste. |
Learning Target/ Teaching Point: I can explain how cell structures contribute to the function of the cell. |
Success Criteria: Identify prokaryotic vs. eukaryotic cells and their characteristics Identify each cell organelles appearance and function Compare the organelles found in both plant and animal cells
|
Opening (I Do) An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson. TKES 1, 2, 3,4,5, 8,10
| INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION: Warrior 5 math warm up |
DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Video
The teacher will introduce the activity for today by explaining to students they will complete a cell analogies worksheet in which they must apply the function of each organelle to an analogy using real word application. |
Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10 | GUIDED PRACTICE: The teacher will distribute the papers and go over 1 organelle for students to identify. The class will have a discussion on why that organelle fits that analogy for clarity on how to complete the assignment.
|
INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: Students will work in either partners or individually cutting out the definitions and analogies of the organelles and placing them on their answer sheet. This will be placed in the notebook once finished. |
Closing (We Check) Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding . TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8 | SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING: The teacher will check each student’s worksheet when completed and will discuss the importance of analogies.
