Learning Target/ Teaching Point: I can describe Native American cooking traditions and how they are making their way into modern culture.

Success Criteria: I know that I have it when I can describe what Sean Sherman did and what that tells about him.

Opening (I Do)


INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION:

1.Review the expectations for Achieve 3000. 

2. Introduce the article, “Cooking Up Native Traditions”, connecting the material to what we learned about Native Americans in Georgia.




Direct Instruction (click link for video):

Discuss the Before Reading Poll and guide the students to the article.

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)


GUIDED PRACTICE:

Guide the students through the first five tabs of the article.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:


The students will read the article, complete the activity, and complete  the thought question.


When finished, students will complete a quiz reflection/self-assessment activity in preparation for tomorrow’s test.
