Standard/s: MLI.PIH Use sequenced information meaningfully.

MLI.INT1D Demonstrate Novice-Mid proficiency in listening, viewing and reading comprehension.

Learning Target/ Teaching Point: Students will be able to read and translate a story.

Success Criteria: Students can read and answer comprehension questions about a story.

Opening (I Do)

An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION: Do you ever stop to think why you do the things you do? Or what you’d rather do? Or what you could do better? Or differently?


DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Fridays are our days to reflect over the week and see what we did, what we wanted to do, what we could have done better, or what we could do differently.

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10


GUIDED PRACTICE:  On the  bottom of your Do Now/Despegue write a thorough and thoughtful response to the following questions:

  1. How did your first week go? It was great/okay/bad because . . .

  2. What is helping you most? _____ is helping me most because . . .

  3. What challenges are you facing learning Spanish? ____ is challenging to me in Spanish because . . .

 

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: Students answer thoughtfully and thoroughly.


Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .
