INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION:  Why do you think it’s important to work independently in the lab bi-monthly or weekly? Learning a language is a luxury with a teacher at the helm, and it is also important to become independent learners. It takes an average of 7 years to become fluent in a language, and the only way to get there is to work hard and spend time independent of the teacher practicing.

DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Teacher plays and pauses Episode 1 of BBC’s “Mi Vida Loca” 22 episode series. Students meet Merche, the main character in a mystery adventure that takes place on location in Spain.
