Standard/s: 

S8P4f - Develop and use a model (e.g., simulations, graphs, illustrations) to predict and describe the relationships between wave properties (e.g., frequency, amplitude, and wavelength) and energy.

S8P4d - Develop and use a model to compare and contrast how light and sound waves are reflected, refracted, absorbed, diffracted or transmitted through various materials.

Learning Target/ Teaching Point: 

I can predict and describe the effects of changing wave properties of a sound heard, so that I can describe what happens when a sound wave interacts with different substances.

Success Criteria: 

o Recall the meaning of propagate and which type of wave must have a medium to propagate.

o Describe why sounds appear louder or quieter based on energy and changes in the wave.

o Describe why sounds appear higher or lower pitch based on energy and changes in the wave.

o Draw examples for Transmission, Absorption, Reflection, Refraction, and Diffraction

We will work together in opening up their notes Presentation and answer the first question together.

Students will complete the notes for this unit on their own and answer the questions at the end for a grade.
