Standard/s: SS8H4

Learning Target/ Teaching Point: Explain significant factors that affected westward expansion in Georgia between 1789 and 1840.

Success Criteria: I know that I have it when I can describe the westward movement of Georgia’s capitals, the impact of land policies pursued by Georgia, how technological developments had an impact of Georgia’s growth, and the removal of the Creek and Cherokee from Georgia. 

Opening (I Do)


INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION:

“Yesterday, you should have made some decisions about your project. Today, you will put that plan into action. If you are choosing to complete a Google Site, you will go to the media center for a tutorial with Mr. Turner. If you are creating a newspaper/magazine, you will stay in here.”

Review  the project directions with the students.

GUIDED PRACTICE:

Give the students an opportunity to ask any clarifying questions. 

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

The students will work on their project. This is a two day lesson. The students will have two days of class time to work on the project. It will be due on the day of the test, which is Wednesday November 4th.
