Learning Target/ Teaching Point: Explain how the four transportation systems in Georgia impact the state’s economy.


Success Criteria: 

I know I have it when I can describe the ways the interstate highway system, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, deepwater ports, and railroads support the exchange of goods and services and provide jobs for Georgians. 


Opening (I Do)


INTRODUCTION/CONNECTION:

Explain that we will begin a unit on the economy of Georgia. Show the clip from the movie cars that demonstrates the way transportation systems impact an economy.


Direct Instruction:

The teacher will use a slide presentation to teach the material. The students will take cloze notes.

GUIDED PRACTICE:

No guided practice


INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:


The students will complete a map of Georgia showing the interstates, ports, and the airport with two facts for each area. They will also complete pages 193-196 in the workbook.
